Club Profile
2009/2010 Season: A great year for our older girls playing at both U16 in the County Cup and County Intermediates U18 league. The U16’s won the County Cup for the first time and the Intermediates took away the County Intermediate Cup. 6 of the squad were also involved with their school team, William Farr, in reaching and winning the National;l Schools U16 Final.
This year we again struggled to get an U10 team though still have hopes of getting enough now for next season as we have had quite a few coming to training. In addition to this we have opened up training for those aged 5 - 8 in our Mini-Griffs section.
Teams for the season were U12, U14 (our U13’s playing up a year so they can play 11 a-side), U15 - all playing from Ravendale Sports Ground on Saturday mornings, Intermediate plus ladies on Sundays at Cherry Willingham Community School.
For our winter training this year we were at Cherry’s new 3G pitch on a Thursday evening.
2009: Another good season for the Griffins sees our U15 team playing up a year at U16 and winning the Mid Lincs double of League and Cup. The cup final was a thrilling encounter against Long Bennington. The U12 Eagles came runners up in both the league and cup. The ladies team has started to become more established with a number of new players coming into the team for the season. This was our first season with no U10 team as we could not get the numbers interested - worrying!
2008: U10's and U14’s both win their respective League Cups with the U10’s also finishing runner-up in their league. The new U11 Eagles team had a great first season, pipping the Lionesses into second spot in the league. Our new ladies team struggled for times but are starting to gel.
For the 2008/2009 season there were teams at U11, 2 at U12, U13, U14, U15 and U17 plus ladies.
2007: U10's secure second place in the SHLL U10 League and reach the Cup Final. U11's are 4th in a very competitive league and also reach the SHLL Cup Final. U12's have a bit of a hit and miss season but are improving as a team all the time. U13's have competed in a very strong league and are looking at finshing as Runnners-Up. U14's continue to dominate the SHLL league are currently looking at winning the league and are also through to the Cup Final. U15 have had somewhat of an indifferent season but have new players that are still learning the game. The whole league is balanced as to where teams will finish at this time but the U15's also have progressed through to the Cup Final. We are also well on the way to having our first ladies team to play competitive football next season
2006: U13 and U14’s come runners up in their age groups, U13 win the Cup and U10, U11 and U12 all get to cup finals.
Ladies team is started and at AGM name is changed from Lincoln Griffins Girls FC to Lincoln Griffins Ladies FC
2005: Last years U10’s follow up the next season by winning a very competitive U11 League. The new U10 and U16 teams each come runners up.
2004: Started our new U10 team in the newly formed South Humber Ladies League as there was no age group for them in the Mid Lincs. In their very first season together, our U10’s gained the Griff’s their first league championship.
2003: Moved to Lincoln College’s Ravendale Sports Ground in September 2003.
Our first 11 a-side team was formed to play at U14’s. The same 2003/2004 season also saw us running teams at U10, U11 and U12. Still nothing for our older girls.
U10’s entered the newly formed South Humber Ladies League (SHLL).
2002: Club moved to play from Cherry Willingham Community School.
Due to the number of girls attending training continuing to rise we had 5 teams - at U10, U11, U12, U14 and U15/U16. Unfortunately the U15/U16 team had no local league to play in!
The club actively promoted a move to 11 a-side football for girls playing in leagues at and above U14.
One of only a few clubs in the county to be chosen to participate in the first year of the FA’s Kick Start program and...
...we attained FA Chartered Status, one of the first clubs to achieve this in the county.
2001: Joined up with Glebe Park Eagles Football Club in order to be able to play at King George V Playing Fields, Lincoln, in the Summer of 2001 due to costs and pitch restrictions at Nettleham FC. This allowed us to keep all teams together as one club. The number of girls attending training had risen to the extent 4 teams played in the 2001/2002 seasons Mid Lincs Youth League. These were in all four of the leagues - U10, U11, U12 and U14 age groups.
U10 finished 2nd in their age group with all other teams finshing in 4th position in their respective leagues.
2000: Originally formed as Nettleham Girls Football Club in the Summer of 2000 playing at Mulsanne Park, Nettleham, Lincolnshire.
First Season:- 3 teams played in the inaugural season of the Mid Lincs Youth League - Girls Section. 2 teams at U12 and the other at U10.
U12A came league runners up to Grimsby Town after an end-of-season play-off.
